working from home

So...one of the things I like about this job is that my boss doesn't bat an eye when we say we need to work from home. It goes hand in hand with that whole 'being treated like a grown up' deal.
I woke up this morning feeling less then spectacular. I'm not sick exactly. I've got a mild headache and my stomach is...cranky. But, the idea of getting on the train was...less than appealing. So I let work know I'd be working from home today. And that's that.
What this also means is that I can do some laundry. And considering I seem to have ALL THE LAUNDRY again, this is a good thing.
So, the guidelines I received for what to pack for the R&R weekend in Dallas is that it will be Dallas, in August. Hmmm. So...I'm toying with the idea of packing dresses (for the air flow). I have a couple that pack well and are super comfortable, even in the heat, and also, make a nice showing of the boobies. I don't know that I've ever worn a dress around Steve before. That could be interesting. And, since I won't be standing in lines waiting to get into gigs, I can wear something other than my stompy boots.
There's friday evening, which involves some hanging out and a gig. Then Saturday which involves an assortment of adventures, and possibly a change of clothing in the evening before dinner. And the Sunday farewells, along with hopefully shenanigans with some of my Dallas peeps before flying away. So I'm looking at: whatever I fly in and wear for early shenanigans with
jennimoo and/or
havenward, then something to wear to the gig (I'm thinking probably jeans and a tank top), Saturday morning (possibly capri pants & tank top), Saturday evening (boobitastic sun dress), Sunday morning/afternoon/evening (possibly another sundress).
And of course, sunblock like crazy. Possibly my bathing suit. My camera. My netbook for late night/early morning teasing of the internets....yeah, and of course, my hat. Or two.
I've spent more time thinking about that than the packing for the Phoenix trip. LOL.
Phoenix is closer though, so I should think on that. Being that we'll be a little further back from the stage than I'm used to at this venue, I may bring my flash. It hasn't been tested yet, so that might be a good time...not that I'd use it for the whole show, mind, but a few strategic shots might be worth having it. I'm thinking that trip will involve jeans and tanks for the most part, with my stompy boots because I will definitely be standing.
And of course, lest we forget, England!
badfalcon and I spent some time yesterday working on the shenanigan plan. It will be glorious. I feel we maybe should warn all of Europe that we're coming.
In other news, I maybe spent money on clothes last night accidental like. I ended up getting two pairs of jeans, a pair of bike shorts, and four tank tops from Roaman's and Jessica London...mostly because both of their latest catalogs offered a free gift I wanted. LOL. All in all tho, I only spent about $100, so...Yay for CLEARANCE!
Now I'm hungry. I should go make food. I think I have some bacon in the fridge. Possibly some eggs.
You're turn! Random questions:
a) How the hell are you?
b) From where you're sitting right now, which way is north?
c) What was the last thing you said out loud?
d) How do you feel about getting a massage?
e) How do you feel about big screen tvs?
f) How do you feel about hugs?
g) Who did you last hug?
h) Do you know what a *smish* is?
i) Have you seen my muse? She seems to be missing.
j) Vampires, y/n?
k) What's for breakfast? (or whatever meal is next for you)

Date: 2013-07-17 03:01 pm (UTC)b) From where you're sitting right now, which way is north? I have no idea.
c) What was the last thing you said out loud? Discussing how frustrating track changes can be with my co-editor for these policy manuals.
d) How do you feel about getting a massage? I need one but I'm not fond of them. They make me shiver and it usually tickles.
e) How do you feel about big screen tvs? Better than a 12", I guess.
f) How do you feel about hugs? I like them if I initiate them. Or am expecting them.
g) Who did you last hug? E, at the end of her party last month.
h) Do you know what a *smish* is? An online term, I think (or at least I've only seen it used online) for a close embrace wherein two attempt to become one. An affectionate term/reaction.
i) Have you seen my muse? She seems to be missing. No.
j) Vampires, y/n? Yes, unless they sparkle.
k) What's for breakfast? (or whatever meal is next for you) Lunch is next, in an hour or so: water and rotini with mushroom marinara and shakey cheese.

c) That CAN be frustrating
d) I don't usually find them tickle-inducing...but I'm also not overly ticklish.
e) Pretty much anything is better than a 12" TV.
f) This is why I ask this question. It is good to know what people's touching thresholds are.
Your lunch sounds yummy. I just finished breakfast. Bacon and eggs and coffee. (there may or may not have been ice cream for dessert).

There is free ice cream today (and Thurs/Fri) at City Hall Plaza from 11A-3P to debut the local vendor's latest version of a Klondike Bar, basically. That will be my unexpected dessert!
I recommend ice cream in coffee, too.

Date: 2013-07-17 04:22 pm (UTC)When I was in upstate NY it was a matter of knowing where Lake Ontario was in relation to my position. It was almost like a compass. Even today, you can put me down anywhere in eastern upstate NY and I can tell you in a matter of seconds which direction the lake is in.
Otherwise it's just simple observation and knowing the location you're in. Sun position can help, landmarks and such....I don't know, it's just something I am constantly aware of...and it's very disconcerting if I can't figure it out.

f) How do you feel about hugs? I LOVE hugs
g) Who did you last hug? Claire I think
h) Do you know what a *smish* is? Yup. I shall demonstrate one for you in October
