Crampy, Cranky, Confounded

One of the great joys of getting older and approaching menopause is the changes in my cycle and hormone fluctuations.
Every month I get to guess how long PMS is going to last. Some months I have what I have always called "normal" for me. A day, maybe two before my cycle actually starts, I get lower back pain and some cramping, I get horny as all get out and I crave salty foods. Other months all of that starts a full week before. Some really special months it starts about two weeks out, and I also get serious bloating (which increases the arm problems/pain), ridiculously tender breasts/nipples, nausea and fatigue like you get when you are really sick.
This is one of THOSE months. I've had the back pain/spasms/cramps and the icky sense of impending period for nearly two weeks. My breasts HURT. My nipples are so damn sensitive that my clothing has them hard and hurting. I am craving potato chips and pretzels and chocolate and yet when I eat anything, I feel sick to my stomach.
On top of all of that fun, I am now, officially late. I don't keep the closest track, but again "normal" for me has always been a fairly short cycle end to end, sometimes little more than 24 days from beginning of period to beginning of period. But, I know for certain I started on the 13th of September. It was my birthday and I was out with friends. How could I not forget?
That means that October should have started around the 10th or 11th. November should have started around the 8th. I know that November didn't start until around the 14th though...which still should make this month a go on the 12th at latest...but here we are at the 13th and I'm still crampy and achy and tender and with a case of the munchies like I'd smoked a whole field of weed.
I do not like this one bit. Even more so because I'm traveling this weekend. I'm headed to Phoenix for one last gig of the year with my
darling_lisa. Jason Southard and Ryan Baker are playing in The Great Gig in the Sky.
It will be wee baby kitty Freya's first experience with me going away without there being someone there to keep an eye on them. I need to remember to clean out litter boxes and make sure there's enough treats down tonight before I go to bed. Tomorrow I need to get up when my alarm actually goes off, instead of hitting snooze three times, then getting up. Shower, dress and go. My flight is at 6:55 am, so need to be gone from my house by 5:15 at the latest. Gives me time to get parked at the lot and take the shuttle to the airport.
Debating whether I'm taking a laptop with me at all. I'm taking the crochet I'm working on (trying to finish a sweater before Christmas)...but I know if I don't take a laptop I'm gonna want one.
It's little more than 24 hours, I'm back on a plane Saturday evening, and then I get to do house work and stuff on Sunday. Also need to find a place to get a good sized beef tenderloin. I'm cooking Christmas dinner, and I've decided to go with a stuffed beef tenderloin. Stuffing will be black rice and couscous, both cooked with some beef stock and mushrooms, garlic and rosemary...but the local Safeway didn't have any beef tenderloin. I think maybe on Sunday I'll try the mexican meat market around the corner.
Okay...I've rambled enough. What kind of fun are you planning this weekend?
