So, where to begin?
The Life of Riley. For those of you who do not know, it is a band comprised of lead singer, Riley Smith (who is also an actor, most recently was on the new 90210), Henri O'Conner on guitar and Jonah Dolan on drums. All great guys that I've met in varying situations (including drunkenly popping up on Riley at Hotel Cafe one night to accost him for a picture).
They are getting ready to head to England and Germany for a tour. Last week, I made a proposal to them.
For those of you that may remember the Kane book project, my proposal was similar. I would fly to England and (drive to) Germany, take pictures at all the gigs, maybe get some behind the scene stuff, etc. I would also offer the fans the opportunity to contribute fan pages like we did with the Kane books.
The catch was the timing. I was going to need to run a Kickstarter, with the hope of raising enough money to cover my airfare and incidental costs, but the rewards I hoped to offer were cool.
The reason for needing the band's buy off was in part due to the behind the scenes type pics but also because I wanted rewards to include autographed pictures and the like.
Now, to judge based on the email convo I had with Henri and Riley, they are very interested and want to do it, just feel the timing, with the rush to try to raise funds doesn't actually fit. However, they are planning a fall tour, in November ish. And it looks like we might make that work better.
In actuality, that works all the way around. I get time to try to save some cash, to better plan out rewards, to go over details with the band so that we're all on the same page, and give time to think about what they would want their fan page to look like.
I need to actually sit down with the guys to talk details before I'm ready to announce a plan with submission dates and the like. BUT, I anticipate putting together a Facebook page and/or LJ for the project sometime over the summer to share information and details about the who/what/where/etc. And there will be a Kickstarter (or other similar type campaign) as well.
My period, which I had assumed was not coming, since it is now two weeks over due, appears to be about to start. This is me. Very Not Happy. UGH. I just got over this icky feeling of impending period. Now it's back. Along with the cramps, back ache, bloating (and the subsequent pain caused by all that water pushing on already angry nerves) and over all homicidal feeling.
Bleh.
Now, I am at work and everything here is pissing me off. GRRRRRRR.
Including Amazon. Ordered a pricey item that should have shipped on Friday. Got notice on Friday it was shipped. Should have had it Monday. Didn't get it. Called. Seems the order got lost. They couldn't order the replacement yesterday because they have a mandated waiting period for re-orders. Today, I'm told the item is no longer in stock and is on back order. They've reordered it for me for "no extra charge" and I should have it on MAY 1ST!
A month and a half from now. For something I don't have because THEY fucked up. Um. No. I don't think so. They had better fix it. And fast.
And on that note, I need to get some work done. It's going to be a long, long day.
